My Teaching Philosophy

Classroom TeacherClaire Simiona

My teaching philosophy.

My personal approach to teaching is to value the whole child and to teach them in a manner which best facilitates their learning and growth. I want to help children realise their full potential and I am committed to achieving this.

As a teacher I believe it is important to create a classroom environment that is inclusive of all children and respectful of the rich diversity within our society. Valuing diversity is important to me as it reflects my own multicultural background.

Technology has an increasing presence in the classroom. I regard technology as a valuable teaching and learning tool. I also acknowledge the increasing importance of multi modal literacies which are associated with the advances in technology. As a teacher I want to prepare students to be adaptive to the changes occurring in our society.

I like to think creatively and I enjoy using this ability to develop processes that enhance the student's learning. In providing creative options for students I hope to encourage their ability to think innovatively, a skill which will be important as they grow.

In conclusion, my goal as a teacher is to help the children develop thinking strategies and behaviours that will enable them to live purposefully and confidently in the world. I also hope to foster in them a love of learning and the competencies to make good choices for themselves, their community and the environment.
